Edgardo Thinks...

This trend of distressed and antiqued furniture is bewildering. He doesn't see the beauty in a piece of furniture that is sturdy like a brand new item but has been finished to look old. I love how this dresser turned out buy my honey just can't see it. Take the poll in the sidebar and let me know where your feelings stand on this subject!

Well, That Would Be Telling Now Wouldn't It!

Okay. My new favorite thing... my loud and obnoxious Air Compressor and Paint Gun. I think I will be spending a lot more time in the garage painting furniture, disturbing the peace, and losing my hearing. I guess I better get me some quality ear plugs right away - can you say this afternoon? Anyway, I love my new toys - it's probably an infatuation that will quickly grow stale but for now I am enjoying it. My next 3 projects will be a rocking chair, a vintage side table, and a really cute twin size head and foot board. I hope to have these three done this week and then I will move on to a china cabinet.

Initially I was really frustrated because the air compressor was taking forever to get up to full pressure and shut off that unholy racket it makes while charing the tank. Then Edgardo, my sweetie, pointed out that there was a pretty sizeable air leak coming from the attachment between the hose and the paint gun. After the application of a little teflon tape (I know you're probably yawning so big your ears are popping) and a couple good turns with the wrench and problem solved. Still, I may want the giant size compressor if this new obsession continues long term. Tell you what... I'll let you know.

New Website Up & Running

I'm only 7 months behind - not much right? Anyway, when my computer self destructed last summer it took our business website with it. I have since made 4 separate attempts to replace and update our site: www.goodbuyconsignment.com and none of them would cooperate and complete publishing. Yesterday night I finally put the finishing touches on our new page and it actually went through a complete publish to the web. The clouds parted, the Heavens opened, and Angels began to sing... Hallelujah! I admit that is a slight exaggeration. However, while I am far from Angelic, I did some singing of my own - be glad you weren't there to hear me. To sum up... visit us online at: www.goodbuyconsignment.com

Cafe Curtains

So the mess behind the countertop at our consignment store has been driving me crazy!! I can't seem to keep it straight for more than one afternoon. So... I made some cafe curtains and hung them from he countertop so I could cover up the mess - sweep it all under the rug so to speak. I guess my new motto is, "if you can't keep it straight then cover it up." I only finished one side of the countertop and I need to go buy more rods for the other side now because I didn't measure before I went shopping. In other news I have been painting furniture so I should have some newly refinished things on sale later this week, yeah.

2 Liscenses & 1 Permit - Yikes!

So both Jacob and Sarah have driver's licenses and just yesterday Daniel got his official driver's permit. Oh my, he wants to drive everywhere now. On the one hand I appreciate having a selection of drivers to send hither and yon on various errands (carpool, library drop, retrieving children from friends houses etc.) on the other hand the insurance payments are painful and I worry about safety, especially when the snow flies. It will all work out well in the end, I hope.

I Miss Blogging...

What can I say that won't be whiny? Good thoughts, happy thoughts, lets see... I made a fun display rack for my mom's jewelry and it's now on sale at our store.
Sarah's room is finally painted after 6 years of procrastination and 3 solid days of painting. Who knew that painting something with a light base over existing paint with a Medium base would require 4 coats of paint? I didn't that's for sure. Should have used primer - live and learn. I'm "hosting" the Gale family for Thanksgiving at my house this year (my side of the family) but my mom has been left to coordinate everything because I am almost never home these days. My brother Danny hung some lights over our business sign and that was fun (both seeing him and getting the sign lit). On of our consigner's brought in lots of Fall and Christmas decorations so things are looking pretty festive if not too well organized. Edgardo and Jacob have been toiling away daily trying to get the flooring laid in our new 2800 square foot extension.

If you have furniture and home decor items you don't use that are in nice condition bring them in and I'll sell them for you - we are going to need lots of consignments to fill up the extra space that's almost completed.
