May I suggest a new game to anyone looking for a way to pass the time while walking home from school each day? Try a rousing round of "catch the rock." This is what you play when you don't have a ball handy - play catch with a rock instead of say, a tennis ball. This is a good way to strengthen the economy for your local dental service and weaken the economy in your own home. Daniel and his cousin Aaron were playing a game of catch the rock as they were heading home from school today. Daniel thought it was game over but Aaron was still playing and called out to Daniel after the rock had already left his hand to turn around. If Daniel hadn't turned around he would have been hit in the back of the head. As it happened Daniel did turn around and added a new facet to the game by retrieving the stone with his mouth knocking a good sized chip off his tooth in the process. He is still functional but will require repair so we have an appointment for him on December 16th. For anyone who doesn't have Dental insurance it might interest you to know that the University Dental Clinic at 7495 South State Street, SLC (801) 213-9530 discounts your visit by 20% when you pay with cash or check. If Daniel needs a filling it will run $63 - $128 depending on which tooth it is and the size of the filling. If he needs a crown we are looking at $711 (I think he needs a crown because I can't see how there is enough tooth surface for a filling). These prices will be discounted by 20% so our worst case scenario is about $570.
Now for the good news. Just after finding out what the cost of a crown would be we received an 8 night reservation for the Taylorsville house and the 1st half of the rent will cover the cost of the repair plus some. Hallelujah! That was a real blessing. Reservations have been pretty slow this season, I imagine it is mostly due to the ailing economy but maybe the whole "boycott the Utah ski season because the Church of Jesus Christ is at fault for passing Proposition 8 in California - down with the Haters!" movement is somewhat responsible. Who knows. We just keep moving forward and put our faith in Heavenly Father and everything usually works out okay in the end.
